The FF Plus is of the opinion that Totalsports made a gross error in judgement by deciding to remove all posters and advertisements with the image of Springbok lock Eben Etzebeth from its stores.
Just like the South African Human Rights Commission (HRC), Totalsports made the mistake of creating the impression that Etzebeth has already been found guilty of the allegations of racism that were made against him.
Etzebeth has not yet been afforded the opportunity to defend himself against the allegations. He has the right to defend himself and should be considered innocent until proven otherwise.
The action taken by Totalsports creates the impression that he is guilty and that the franchise does not want to be associated with him. Not only is it unpatriotic, but it also fans the flames of the constant racial rhetoric that causes division.
Totalsports owes both Etzebeth and the South African public an apology for its rash action.
