In the FF Plus's view, Rand Water lending the Emfuleni Municipality 17 bakkies for a period of three months is not enough to solve the extensive water crisis in the Municipality.
The bakkies are leased by Rand Water and then made available to Emfuleni as part of the Section-63 process of the National Water Services Act in terms of which the national department of water and sanitation took full control of all water sources in the Municipality.
The department appointed Rand Water as the implementing agent of the process.
The bakkies, meant to be used for managing and maintaining three water depots, are, in light of the scope of the Municipality's water problems, absolutely inadequate.
According to the ANC-controlled Emfuleni, it wants to procure 35 vehicles in the next three months to continue managing and maintaining the water system.
Given the Emfuleni Municipality's bankrupt status, it is unclear where the funds needed to procure vehicles will come from.
And with the ANC in control, it is highly unlikely that this objective will be achieved.
The blame for the department of water and sanitation's radical intervention with Emfuleni's water systems must be laid at the door of the ANC, which is currently governing the Municipality.
Just like with all other aspects of the Municipality, the ANC mismanaged the water system to such an extent that nearly 60% of the town's water supply has been lost.
Ultimately, the only solution for the problems experienced by the town is to oust the ANC.
The FF Plus will monitor the water teams' activities to ensure that basic water services are delivered to residents as far as possible.
