Sewage spilling into Blue Gill Dam in Kempton Park has to stop

The ecosystem of the Blue Gill Dam in Kempton Park has partially been destroyed by raw sewage spilling into the Dam for four days.

The FF Plus reported the spill at once, but the Ekurhuleni Metro’s Department of Water and Sanitation dragged its feet and took four days to resolve the problem.

The party will raise the matter in the next council meeting and request that precautionary measures be put in place to prevent another sewage spill.

Meanwhile, a large number of fish and birds died because the spill had a detrimental impact on the dam’s natural ecology.

This is the third sewage spill in the Blue Gill Dam following similar incidents in 2007 and 2018.

The local community have also voiced their concern about the sewage spill. Visitors were cautioned not to participate in water activities at the dam.

There are several developments around the dam.

The decay of Kempton Park’s sewage infrastructure under ANC rule should not be tolerated.

This dereliction is not only posing a threat to the environment, but also detracts from residents’ quality of life.

The FF Plus is committed to holding the Ekurhuleni Metro accountable for its gross mismanagement.

The FF Plus will not stand idly by and look on while the environment is destroyed by the failures of the ANC-led administration.
