The apparent stricter approach followed by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) and the Hawks with regard to investigations and action taken against corruption and fraud in the public service is wholeheartedly welcomed by the FF Plus along with the raid on the offices of the North West premier, Supra Mahumapelo.
The raid that was conducted on the premier’s offices on Thursday is allegedly in regard to a three-year contract that the North West government entered into with Nepo Data Dynamics, an IT company that apparently provides the office of the premier and other governmental offices with internet and related marketing systems.
The contract’s duration is from 2016 to 2019 and nearly R215 million has already been paid to Nepo Data Dynamics. The alleged irregularities are apparently related to this.
It is unacceptable that state coffers are plundered and that tax payers’ money is stolen by means of blatant tender fraud and corruption. Certain service providers have been exploiting the government for the last 24 years under the leadership of the ANC.
The funds that are needed for infrastructure development in order to improve the lives of the people living in the North West are paid out to cadres by way of front companies. The fact that the highest leadership in the province is implicated in this is a disgrace and the ruling party should be ashamed.
The FF Plus hopes that the matter will receive the necessary attention and will keep a keen eye on the investigation and its progress.
