The water crisis affecting the Afgri silos in Kinross is finally being addressed following sustained pressure by the Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) on the Govan Mbeki Local Municipality.
The party reported the water leak on 2 February 2026, but because the water pipeline runs under an active Transnet railway line, the Municipality could not start doing repairs at once.
In the interim, the Freedom Front Plus arranged with the municipal Water Department to deliver 20 000 litres of water to the silos daily so production processes would not be interrupted.
In addition to constant engagement with the Department, the Freedom Front Plus also requested the Municipal Manager, Mr Elliot Maseko, in writing to prioritise the appointment of an external contractor.
After a three-month water outage, the contractor, FG and X Construction, began repair work on the pipeline last week.
The party will continue to monitor the process until the leak has been successfully repaired and water supply has been restored.
Through this intervention, the Freedom Front Plus has once again demonstrated that it is the only political party that does not fail residents, but actually works to serve them.
With the elections on 4 November, voters have an opportunity to cast their votes for the Freedom Front Plus and oust the ANC from the Govan Mbeki Municipal Council.
