The FF Plus in Limpopo was overjoyed to learn of the decision of the ANC's provincial executive council to get rid of the Mayor of Mogalakwena Local Municipality (Mokopane/Potgietersrus), Andrina Matsemela, and hopes that her cronies will be shown the door quite soon too.
The FF Plus has been trying to have Matsemela dismissed since 2015. And the party is very pleased that keeping the pressure on has finally had the desired effect.
Under Matsemela's leadership, taxpayers in the Municipality received very little to no service delivery due to mismanagement, corruption and unlawful appointments.
The FF Plus is, however, concerned that the ANC might be planning to redeploy her at some other municipality. The redeployment of ANC cadres from one municipality to the next is one of the biggest reasons why municipalities are deteriorating.
The right thing to do would be to file criminal charges against her and the other implicated officials for the deterioration of the Mogalakwena Municipality.
That would send a loud and clear warning to all municipal officials that corruption and mismanagement will not go unpunished.
