Poor service delivery in Tshwane has to be addressed

The impression created by the Tshwane Metro coalition government’s propaganda about their hard work to clean up and resolve service delivery issues stands in stark contrast with the reality on grass-roots level.

Large parts of the Metro are plunged into darkness at night due to broken streetlights, motorists must navigate inaccessible roads and visitors are greeted by heaps of uncollected refuse.

Some roads in Montana, Sinoville and Doornpoort are full of potholes. Third Avenue in Montana, a key connecting route for the neighbourhood, is more dirt than tar and riddled with potholes.

In Mamelodi at major intersections, such as the junction of Stormvoël Road and Waltloo Road opposite the Denlyn Shopping Centre, traffic lights have been flashing red for months.

Heaps of refuse on street corners and unmowed grass obstruct motorists’ view, causing traffic to back up for kilometres at the intersection.

There are no working streetlights in large parts of the Moot, consequently, crime such as theft of cables, vehicles and water meters, is escalating rapidly.

The Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) challenged the ActionSA/ANC/EFF-led coalition government to match their words with actions and ensure tangible improvements in service delivery across all communities in the Metro.

The party shares the frustration of residents who loyally pay for services, but receives poor service delivery.

The party will continue to prioritise residents’ interests and fight for their right to equitable service delivery.
