Effective cooperation between the police and farming community last night ensured that the offenders were apprehended shortly after a couple was attached on their farm in the Bloekomspruit area in Sedibeng.
Mr Basie and Mrs Ina Rosslee were overpowered in their home on Sunday evening. Mrs Rosslee was able to contact the owners of the adjacent farm who rushed to the scene.
The thieves made off with their haul and fled in the direction of Deneysville, where they were arrested.
Among other things, the couple's firearms were recovered.
Mr Rosslee was seriously injured in the attack and taken to a hospital.
Amid the violence and political instability in which Gauteng farmers find themselves, they have no other choice but to get involved with local community security structures.
