Mthethwa is wasting taxpayer’s money with court case

“The decision of the Constitutional Court that the minister of Police, Mr. Nathi Mthethwa, cannot prohibit the investigation into crime in Khayelitsha is proof that the minister wanted to act unconstitutionally. Mthethwa is wasting taxpayer’s money and is only enriching his legal representatives. It can rightfully be asked who his legal advisors are and whether merit or politics had been the motivation to go to the Constitutional Court. It appears as if political considerations had been the reasons,” Dr. Pieter Groenewald, the chief spokesperson on Police for the Freedom Front Plus says.

“Last year alone (2012/13 financial year), the Police spent R204 million on civil claims. The impression is being created that the Police is eager to turn to the courts because legal fees aren’t a consideration. It is time that an investigation is launched to, in the case of certain court cases, hold the minister of Police personally responsible for the legal fees,” Groenewald said.
