The FF Plus is directing a message to Julius Malema that he should be careful with his revolutionary comments because history has shown that a revolution usually eats its own children, Adv. Anton Alberts, the Freedom Front Plus’ parliamentary spokesperson on the economy has said.
“Robespierre, a reckless, bloodthirsty and power-hungry man stoked the flames of the French revolution and eventually stood at the helm of the French Republic by eliminating his enemies right and left with the feared guillotine.
“It was however a short-lived position of power because the uncontrolled powers of the revolution eventually turned against him with his head also rolling due to the use of the guillotine.
“Malema’s false statements that everything that white people possess they had stolen, creates meme or viral idea which is carried into the world and which is accepted as a fact or truth by poor and frustrated people and in so doing he polarises communities on the basis of race.
It is precisely this habit of Malema of demonising minorities, especially white people, which prompted the FF Plus to oppose the registration of his party with the IEC,” Adv. Alberts says.
“Black economic empowerment has to date on enriched a small group of black people over and over again while the masses have become more impoverished. BEE is clearly a policy which does not work and yet the ANC has decided to sharpen the policy with impossible targets which have been set up through the new BEE codes
“Affirmative action in turn opened the door wide for the ANC’s cadre deployment with the resulting implosion of service delivery by the state and endemic corruption which has become part of society.
“Malema should consequently act carefully by rather directing his attacks at the ANC and keep in mind that his comments create the environment for racial violence. It may warm the cockles of his heart if it really happens, but eventually the flames of the revolution will also consume him. Eventually there are no winners.
“That is why the FF Plus will consider further steps if Malema continues with his false and polarising comments,” Adv. Alberts says.
