The FF Plus urgently demands answers regarding the Mbombela Speaker, Mr William Nkhata’s, deliberate disregard of council rules.
The party addressed a letter to the Mayor of the Mbombela Local Municipality, Ms Sibongile Makhushe, demanding accountability.
The Municipality serves Mbombela/Nelspruit, Barberton, Hazyview, Kaapschehoop, Skukuza and White River.
Since his appointment, the ANC Speaker has made no effort to enforce the relevant rules and orders in the council. Members of the Mayoral Committee are not held accountable if they fail to reply to written questions.
The appointed members even ignore questions posed to them during council meetings.
The FF Plus also sent a letter to the Municipal Ethics Committee. In the letter, the party demands that the standing rule regarding replies to written questions should be amended.
The Speaker, however, simply ignored it even though other opposition parties supported the proposal. Despite this being a pressing issue, a Rules and Ethics Committee meeting was convened without adding the proposed amendments to the agenda.
So, Mpumalanga voters are left with no other choice but to get rid of ANC, which has no regard for them, next year at the polls.
