The exceptional performance of the Mandela Bay Development Agency (MBDA), 81% for the 2024/25 financial year, clearly proves that good governance free from political interference delivers tangible results.
Achieving this milestone, under the leadership of the MBDA’s CEO, Mr Anele Qaba, and his dedicated team, demonstrates that clean governance, strong leadership and accountability are a winning combination.
The MBDA was established to combat urban decay in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro (NMBM) while promoting tourism and economic development through urban revival.
One of the projects managed by the MBDA is the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium. With 85% capital expenditure and an impressive R20 million in revenue from the Stadium, the MBDA demonstrates that success is possible when political interference is eliminated.
Despite the MBDA’s obvious success, the ANC is once again trying to regain control over the Stadium – not to serve the community, but to get their hands on the money.
The ANC sees the Stadium as a cash cow rather than a strategic asset for economic growth.
The ANC coalition government in the NMBM is characterised by corruption, cadre deployment and mismanagement, resulting in the collapse of service delivery and squandering of billions with residents bearing the brunt of it all. This government cannot be allowed to undo the MBDA’s success.
The Freedom Front Plus will keep striving for clean governance and the safeguarding of institutions with a proven record of managing taxpayers’ money responsibly.
NMBM residents deserve better than seeing a well-functioning entity destroyed by political greed.
The Freedom Front Plus strongly urges all residents to join hands and defend the MBDA’s independence to ensure its success keeps growing.
