The FF Plus will table a motion of no confidence against the Executive Mayor of the Mangaung Metro Municipality, councillor Olly Mlamleli, during a council meeting scheduled for Friday, the 7th of August.
Whether the motion will take place via secret ballot or not still remains to be confirmed, but the FF Plus is convinced that the motion will be in the best interest of all residents.
Service delivery and municipal management have deteriorated severely over the last few years and at present, the Metro is simply unable to provide proper service delivery or apply financial discipline to ensure economic growth.
The dire situation in which the Metro currently finds itself can only be attributed to a lack of good leadership and, therefore, the political leaders must be held accountable.
If the Speaker, councillor Mxolisi Siyonzana, makes the concession for a secret ballot to take place, councillors of the Metro will finally have the opportunity to make an individual and ethical decision to send a loud and clear message that poor leadership, which is to the detriment of all residents, will not be tolerated.
All residents deserve a better local government and the FF Plus wants to strongly encourage all Metro councillors to put the interests of the people before politicking. All councillors in the Metro, regardless of their party, should support this motion so that democracy can prevail for the sake of improved service delivery and accountability.
