A patient of the Letaba Hospital has been waiting for surgery for two months because the C-arm X-ray machine of this hospital in the Tzaneen Local Municipality is broken.
Yesterday, the FF Plus called on Limpopo’s MEC for Health, Dr Phophi Ramathuba, to ensure that a new C-arm X-ray machine is urgently procured so surgeries can be performed.
A C-arm X-ray machine is a mobile imaging unit used mainly for fluoroscopic imaging during complex surgical and orthopaedic procedures, pain management (anaesthesia) and emergency procedures.
A shortage of essential medical equipment creates a life-threatening situation for patients who depend on the healthcare system to make proper diagnoses and provide effective medical care.
The FF Plus will follow up on the matter and apply pressure on provincial level where it serves on the Health Committee.
