The FF Plus welcomes the arrest of several officials implicated in corrupt activities at the Lephalale driving test station.
This follows a joint raid by the Road Traffic Management Corporation and The Hawks.
It is suspected that the officials are part of a syndicate of traffic officers and driving school instructors who are “selling” driver’s licences.
Since 2021, members of the public have lodged several complaints concerning irregularities at the test station, which seem to indicate that the correct procedures are being circumvented in exchange for bribes.
Incompetent drivers are a major contributing factor to the death rate on Limpopo’s roads and it is a shame that law enforcement officers, who are responsible for ensuring the public’s safety, are involved in this type of crime.
The FF Plus hopes that if the accused are found guilty, their punishment will send a loud and clear message to others: Corruption will not go unpunished.
