The Municipal Court in the Tshwane Metro’s closure of a nursery school in Rietfontein, Pretoria, sends a loud and clear message to all businesses to comply with all municipal regulations at all times.
Over the last two years, the owner of the nursery school in question, located in Ben Swart Street, was repeatedly asked to comply with municipal bylaws and to cooperate with the Metro’s Department of Economic Development and Spatial Planning.
It fell on deaf ears, though.
Since the nursery school was established, the FF Plus received several complaints from residents in the vicinity about the noise and the negative impact on their property’s value.
In addition, no road signs warning motorists of the movement of children in the area have been erected.
The ruling by the court determined that the premises do not meet the standards for operating a nursery school, that the property has not been rezoned for commercial use and that the owner is not in possession of a legal health certificate.
The FF Plus strongly encourages entrepreneurship and starting new businesses in the Tshwane Metro as long as municipal bylaws are strictly adhered to.
