The Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) calls on the Gauteng Premier, Panyaza Lesufi, to urgently intervene in rural safety following the latest murders on smallholdings in the north of Pretoria.
In one incident, a 46-year-old man was murdered this morning on his smallholding in Kameeldrift East. It occurred shortly after the murder of Mr Mossie Mostert on his smallholding in the Buffelsdrift Conservation Area.
The Freedom Front Plus insists that the Premier facilitate consultation between the Gauteng Police Commissioner, lieutenant-general Tommy Mthombeni, and the communities of Kameeldrift and surrounds to compile a rural safety plan.
These communities have been plagued by serious crime for decades.
Meanwhile, the party wants to encourage rural communities in Gauteng to intensify their security measures and join local community policing forums.
The Freedom Front Plus herewith expresses its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the victims, and will keep pressuring government to improve rural safety in Gauteng.
