The FF Plus welcomes the conviction and severe sentences handed down to three Mozambican citizens for the attack on Mrs Magdaleen Britz and her farm workers in November 2020.
The attack took place on the farm Karkloof in the Harrismith district.
The farm workers were assaulted and shots were fired at Britz.
The fact that the three perpetrators were effectively given a 19-year prison sentence restores some confidence in the justice system and gives those who are most vulnerable new hope.
The party commends the Bloemfontein organised crime unit's excellent detective work and in particular, warrant-officers EM Mahotsi and JD Engelbrecht for their valuable contribution in the conviction and sentencing of the perpetrators.
To effectively combat farm attacks and murders, it is imperative that the criminal justice system functions properly and that severe punishments are imposed on convicted criminals.
The FF Plus will continue to put pressure on the government to declare farm attacks a priority crime.
