The FF Plus welcomes the attempts made to repair the disintegrating roads around Hazyview and Sabie in the Ehlanzeni District Municipality.
Constant communication over a period of eight months with Mpumalanga's MEC for Public Works, Roads and Transport, Ms Mohita Latchminarain, resulted in the D514 in Kiepersol, the R536 between Sabie and Hazyview, and the R535 between Graskop and Hazyview finally getting some much-needed attention.
The repairs form part of the Department's "War on Potholes campaign" (Vala Zonke).
The potholes on these roads have caused serious damage to the vehicles of especially local and international tourists who are not familiar with the poor condition of the roads.
Hazyview, Sabie and Graskop are internationally renowned tourist destinations, so, it is imperative to ensure that visitors are able to travel safely.
The FF Plus visited the site where the road repairs are being done on invitation of the Department. Ms Latchminarain gave the assurance that all routes leading to Hazyview will be repaired as part of the campaign.
The FF Plus will continue to fight for motorists' right to travel on safe roads free of potholes, and will continually monitor the progress of the repair work.
