FF Plus steps in after learners from Vanderbijlpark High School threaten to leave school due to sewage pollution

The FF Plus approached chambers of commerce in Vanderbijlpark to help blow open a blocked sewage pipeline that runs past the Vanderbijlpark High School after learners yesterday threatened to leave the school.

Residents around the school are also hot under the collar because sewage frequently floods their yards.

The party has been asking the Emfuleni Local Municipality (Evaton, Sebokeng, Vaal Oewer, Vanderbijlpark, Vereeniging) to replace the main sewage line in Ford Street since 2018, because manholes often overflow resulting in sewage flowing into the school grounds and rugby field.

The FF Plus also informed the Municipality of the sewage blockage yesterday, but municipal workers could not address it seeing as there are no vehicles available to render the service.

The party had no other choice but to ask the chambers of commerce to intervene.

It is unacceptable that learners must walk through sewage to attend school and cannot participate in certain sports because the sports grounds pose a health risk.

The FF Plus wants to thank the Vanderbijlpark business sector for its selfless assistance.

It is, however, only a temporary solution and the FF Plus will keep putting pressure on the Municipality to replace the sewage line as soon as possible.

This is just another example of the contempt with which the ANC treats the people of Emfuleni.

Emfuleni deserves better than the ANC.
