After continued pressure from the FF Plus and the community of the Lekwa Local Municipality (Morgenzon, Standerton), upgrades to the BB power substation in Standerton are finally underway.
This substation supplies power to large parts of Standerton, which include essential infrastructure, such as the Kieser reservoir, the local hospital and fire station, guesthouses as well as various local businesses and homes.
The damage to the substation was mainly caused by vandalism more than a year ago. The Municipality subsequently had problems with the insurance claim. As a result, critical repairs were delayed.
The FF Plus, however, kept applying pressure and met with the Municipal Manager, Mr Malosi Lamola, on a weekly basis, consequently, upgrades are now being done.
Although these upgrades cause temporary inconvenience for the community in the short run, they will bring a lot of relief in the long run.
The FF Plus will continue to take a stand for the community to ensure that Standerton residents receive the service delivery they pay for.
