The FF Plus in Limpopo welcomes the report issued by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) on its investigation into the unlawful appointment of Mr P.J. Mashamaite as the deputy manager of Corporate Affairs in the Mogalakwena Local Municipality (Mokopane, Potgietersrus).
The findings of the NPA's report indicate that Mashamaite's appointment was unlawful and that disciplinary steps must be taken against the then acting municipal manager, Ms Molala, due to her direct involvement in the appointment.
The report also found that the money spent on Mashamaite's salary must be declared a wasteful and fruitless expenditure.
During a special virtual council meeting of the Mogalakwena Municipality on the 8th of September 2020, the NPA's recommendations and time frame for when action must be taken was adopted.
The FF Plus Limpopo is calling on the Municipality to take all the appropriate steps against those individuals guilty of misconduct and to still take action against them even if they are no longer employed by the Municipality.
The time has come to hold incompetent and corrupt officials accountable for their misdeeds and their consequences as well as to recover the money that was lost from the guilty parties.
