The FF Plus has several questions about the possible signing of an international treaty on pandemic prevention and preparedness by member countries of the World Health Organisation (WHO).
It appears as if South Africa is participating in the negotiations and will be a fellow signatory to the treaty.
Correspondence about the possible treaty was brought to the FF Plus's attention. From the information it can be gleaned that member countries of the WHO are busy compiling certain measures for controlling and combating future pandemics.
The information about the possible treaty was obtained from the WHO's official web page and stakeholders enquired about the South African government's involvement in a letter to Members of Parliament.
Although the FF Plus was not able to find any official documentation to confirm participation in such a treaty or to provide more information, the possible consequences are alarming.
The worst is that it will allow the WHO to prescribe to South Africa how to manage any pandemic affecting the country in the future.
The FF Plus will take up the issue with the Presidency and the Minister of Health.
If any treaties regarding any pandemics are entered into with other countries and/or international organisations, the South African public must be aware of it.
It must first be discussed with the parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Health and the leaders of all political parties represented in Parliament.
South Africans, who are by now sick and tired of the pandemic and the government's regulations in that regard, are fed up with the one-sided rules and regulations imposed by a power-hungry ANC government.
The government must not commit to international treaties before the country's people have had a chance to inspect it and submit comments on it.
The FF Plus is busy looking into the matter.
