FF Plus ensures revised lease agreement for Brakpan Rugby Club

The FF Plus recently helped the Brakpan Rugby Club to revise and finalise a renewed lease agreement with the Bosman Stadium in Brakpan.

The initial lease agreement, received by the Rugby Club in early 2022, posed several challenges, particularly regarding an exorbitantly high tariff for leasing just 637 square meters of stadium facilities, excluding the rugby field and pavilion.

The contract was fundamentally unfair and inappropriate for the Rugby Club’s needs and finances.

The FF Plus kept engaging with the relevant departments and insisting on fair conditions for the Club’s lease contract.

It was recommended during a meeting between Ekurhuleni’s Infrastructure Oversight Committee and the Oversight Committee for Sport that community-oriented properties should be subject to social rather than commercial rates.

Consequently, the Brakpan Rugby Club was offered a new lease contract at a much lower social rate, which includes all the facilities.

The Rugby Club boasts with a heritage of more than a century, is actively involved in conserving irreplaceable artefacts and serves as the Falcons Rugby Union’s headquarters.

Over the years, the Club maintained the facilities using its own resources and ensured that it remains in good condition.

This is in stark contrast to the Pam Brink Stadium in Springs which the ANC/EFF coalition wants to demolish and rezone as a cemetery.

The FF Plus herewith clearly demonstrated its commitment to the protection and preservation of sports facilities and heritage for communities.

It is crucial for organisations, such as the Brakpan Rugby Club, to continue fulfilling their prominent role in promoting sport development within the community.
