FF Plus does not agree with proposal to move Afrikaner’s history to a ‘Boer Jurassic Park’

The FF Plus does not agree with the proposal of the Minsiter of Arts and Culture, Mr. Nathi Mthethwa, to move the Afrikaner’s history and monuments to a ‘Boer Jurassic Park’, Dr. Pieter Mulder, leader of the FF Plus says.

Dr. Mulder says the twenty proposals that the minister mentioned on Wednesday came from a consultative discussion last Friday at Freedom Park in Pretoria. The talks were held to listen to proposals and could therefore not be viewed as decisions, but as mere proposals.

He said the FF Plus will support this, but rejects any proposals that a part of the Afrikaner’s history has to be put under lock and key.

He said the FF Plus had offered five proposals in this regard to the minister and will also support the addition of any memorial on merit for those who had been disregarded in the past, if it is historically accurate.

The five proposals are:

“It is clear that the share that minorities, such as the Afrikaner had in building up the country, as well as their taxes, were good enough, but their heritage and culture is not welcome. That is not acceptable,” Dr. Mulder said.
