It is crucial that in his State of the Province Address (SOPA) on Friday, the North West Premier, Bushy Maape, commits the provincial government to putting the people of the province first in 2023.
North West residents have long since been suffering at the hands of an ANC government that apparently believes its only function is to further the interests of the respective ANC factions in the province.
The consequences of the ANC government's conduct in the North West are evident in the serious decline of municipalities across the province as well as the lack of service delivery on provincial level.
The decay of infrastructure, like roads, power networks and water supply must urgently be addressed in a corruption-free environment.
Too many infrastructure projects have been sabotaged and paralysed by the actions of corrupt tenderpreneurs and deployed ANC cadres and their cohorts in provincial departments.
Billions of rand, which should have been used to benefit the people of the North West, have either been misappropriated or simply stolen by these elements.
Speedily rebuilding and repairing basic infrastructure, and restoring services to create an investor-friendly business environment are critically important.
This province has a youth unemployment rate of 60% and the lowest per capita income in the country.
Therefore, the ANC government that builds castles in the air and keeps making empty promises about job creation to the people every year must not be tolerated any longer.
Restoring a favourable business environment is the only way to enable the private sector to create prosperity and job opportunities in the North West.
Urgent steps must be taken to ensure that MECs and the top management of provincial departments are held accountable for service delivery.
The FF Plus will keep fighting for a corruption-free provincial administration that truly serves the interests of North West residents.
North West deserves better than the ANC.
