Mr. Franco de Lange, FF Plus Councillor in the Johannesburg Metro, shortly before the Metro’s first meeting this morning, received a threat that his wife and family would ‘disappear’ if he votes with the opposition against the ANC.
According to Mr. De Lange, received an anonymous text message at around ten o ‘clock in which he was threatened not to get involved in a coalition government.
He said he was shocked and takes the threats seriously, but he will not be intimidated.
“The FF Plus played a leading role in changing and improving the Johannesburg Metro Council, and we will not be stopped by anybody or any party.
“We immediately informed other opposition parties of the threats and laid a complaint with the SAPS.
“The FF Plus plays an important role in various municipalities and Tshwane’s Metro Council and is looking forward to the new dispensation in local management and will not be put off by these threats. This was proven with the coalition which we have formed with other minority parties in the Johannesburg Metro Council,” Mr. De Lange said.
