The FF Plus condemns the latest farm attack at Dwaalboom outside Thabazimbi on the couple Marthinus and Elsie Richter, which lead to the demise of Mr Richter.
The party is deeply shocked by the brutality of the attack.
Mr Richter succumbed to the wounds he sustained during the attack and his wife was seriously injured as she was burned with a hot object. She is currently recovering in the Medi-Clinic hospital in Thabazimbi.
The FF Plus was in contact with a member of the Matlabas farm watch, who was on the scene, early this morning to discuss the incident.
It was later confirmed that the Bela-Bela (Warmbad) police apprehended the suspects, who had fled in the couple's vehicle. One suspect was shot dead and another was wounded and arrested.
It appears as if the suspects were workers on the farm.
Clearly, the current criminal justice system is not enough of a deterrent for these criminals.
The FF Plus has been demanding that farm attacks must be declared a priority crime for years.
The FF Plus expresses its deepest condolences to the family of Mr Richter and wishes Mrs Richer a speedy recovery.
