The FF Plus is seriously concerned about the sharp rise in the number of farm attacks that were reported in the North West over the course of the past three weeks.
In the latest incident, a farmer from the Ottosdal region was attacked on his farm by three perpetrators who stole cash, a 9mm pistol and ammunition, credit cards and his vehicle.
This attack was the fifth serious farm attack that took place in the North West during the past three weeks.
Despite the increasing number of attacks, it has become apparent that the speedy response and cooperation of farmers, rural security structures and the police are starting to bear fruit.
This is evident in the fact that more attackers are arrested and there are more cases where attacks are either averted or interrupted due to the speedy response of security structures and other preventative measures.
The FF Plus wants to thank all role players from rural communities who contribute to keeping farmers and their properties safe and secure. It remains imperative to be vigilant, to join local security structures and to support one another.
The FF Plus is also calling on the police to cooperate even more closely with local agricultural communities so as to put an end to crime against farmers.
