The FF Plus strongly condemns the violent protests in the Eastern Cape and particularly in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro (NMBM). Lately, the province has been plagued by violent protest actions causing the local economy and private sector to suffer severe financial losses.
The increase in protest actions taking place in the Eastern Cape and especially in and around the NMBM is indicative of the people's level of desperation and frustration with municipalities' poor service delivery.
However, minibus taxi drivers must not be allowed to hold NMBM residents hostage by instigating protests because they are unhappy about the fact that their employees are withholding their R350 Covid-19 grants.
The FF Plus demands that decisive action must be taken against those who are guilty of damaging public and private property and who threaten the safety of other citizens.
Protest actions will make no difference to the past few years' hopeless service delivery by the NMBM and other municipalities in the Eastern Cape.
The only way to bring about real change is to stand up and stand with the FF Plus at the polls to take a strong stand against the utter decline of municipalities and the sheer lack of service delivery.
