The Gauteng government has failed its people as the wave of farm murders in the province continues to rise with two elderly couples who were murdered on their respective farms on Sunday.
One elderly couple was found murdered on their farm in the Orange Farm region in die Vaal Triangle, they were apparently stabbed to death. In a separate incident on the farm Welgevonden near Westonaria, the 78-year-old Fanie and 74-year-old Colleen Engelbrecht were jugulated and strangled with the electric cord of an iron respectively. In both cases, the offenders also stole fire arms, cash and other household items.
After various discussions with the Gauteng Premier, Mr David Makhura, and the provincial MEC for Community Safety, Ms Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane, the public’s patience is fast running out. The police’s lack of crime intelligence and the populist statements made by the ANC and EFF are creating a climate for civil disobedience.
It is time for the ANC to be ousted at the 2019 elections and to be replaced by a multiparty coalition. In the interim, the FF Plus is calling on the residents of Gauteng to join their local safety and security organisations.
