The Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) notes the ANC’s decision to dismiss the mayors, speakers and chief whips of struggling Free State municipalities such as Mafube, Moqhaka, Letsemeng, Nketoana, Nala, Masilonyana and the Lejweleputswa District Municipality.
This is a step in the right direction, but if truth be told, the ANC itself is to blame for these municipalities’ constant decline, financial mismanagement, corruption and overall lack of service delivery.
After 31 years, the party has proven that it is utterly unable to govern. Its trite policies of Affirmative Action (AA) and Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) have crippled service delivery, and turned Free State municipalities into a fertile breeding ground for corruption.
Whether the ANC will appoint competent and qualified officials remains to be seen. There will be no change or improvement in these municipalities as long as the ANC continues to appoint unqualified and incompetent cadres.
It may simply come down to rearranging the deck chairs on a sinking ship.
The only viable solution is to oust the ANC at the polls.
