The Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) requested the Ekurhuleni Metro to urgently address the newly formed sinkhole in Snake Road, Benoni, and not simply ignore it like it does the other sinkholes in the area.
The sinkhole was discovered about a week ago.
It is suspected to have been caused by illegal mining activities.
The Freedom Front Plus notified the police and the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) of the issue.
This sinkhole has to be prioritised as it is located on the busy N12 route, used by thousands of motorists daily.
Failure to address it endangers the lives of many motorists.
The Freedom Front Plus will keep an eye on the situation and pressure the Municipality into taking decisive action.
