The EFF does not want there to be any sensitivities when they say white people stole the land. But they get upset when they are shown out for their lie. They must realise they are throwing a burning match with this kind of comment, Dr. Pieter Groenewald, FF Plus Leader, said.
Dr. Groenewald said during a parliamentary debate on land that people should stop stirring up emotions by saying others had stolen the land.
He said it is dangerous comments as South Africa is a constitutional democracy where nobody had stolen land. The legal land owners in South Africa paid for it, and they worked for it.
“People must also let go of the myth that land automatically brings wealth. Even if one has land, one still has to work hard to become wealthy, and I am not so sure that everyone who wants land would want to work so hard.
“The minister (Gugile Nkwinti) is now trying to upstage the EFF with his comments, which remain mere rhetoric.
“The minister is correct when he says that he cannot grasp how some members of parliament make comments which boil down to hate speech and get away with it.
“In this regard, I would like to inform the minister that I am in the process of submitting a complaint against Julius Malema to parliament’s ethics committee.
“A person cannot sanctimoniously stand in parliament and say you undertake to uphold the laws of the country, but then, on the other hand, you encourage people to grab and occupy land.
“Everybody knows it is not true that whites stole the land. The EFF will not succeed in forcing landowners from their land. They are throwing burning matches into dry grass with their comments, and the grass is going to burn.’
“I want to warn the EFF today to stop with this rhetoric. Don’t set South Africa alight,” Dr. Groenewald said.
