Faction fights within the ANC in the North West province have a destructive effect on communities and hold negative consequences for safety, infrastructure, economic development and social wellbeing.
The question that comes to mind is whether Dr Job Mokgoro, newly elected Premier of North West, and his recently announced executive council will be able to bridle the ANC's infighting or whether he will allow it to keep influencing the province negatively.
Dr Mokgoro clearly tried to strike a balance with the appointment of the new executive council. He replaced some stout supporters of the former premier, Supra Mahumapelo, but at least one of the MECs is still obviously in the Mahumapelo camp.
The FF Plus wants to wish Dr Mokgoro and the executive council good luck with the work that lies ahead, but simultaneously also wants to assure him that the party will keep a very close eye on matters in the North West.
We will not allow service delivery and the economy in this region to suffer due to mismanagement, corruption and destructive ANC infighting any longer. It is also important that mutual respect will facilitate better debating and problem solving in the North West provincial Legislature.
