The double murder of two well-known businesswomen shocked Polokwane (Pietersburg) residents on Thursday.
Mrs Lizette Deacon (55), the owner of two Ocean Basket franchises in Polokwane, and her mother, Hettie (in her late 70s), were apparently abducted between six and eight o'clock on 10 September 2020 after their townhouse in Welgelegen was broken into.
The women's bodies were discovered on Thursday evening when Deacon's vehicle was eventually found abandoned next to the R37 near Mankweng, Limpopo. No suspects have been apprehended in connection with the murders.
The community is strongly urged to do everything in their power to ensure the safety and security of their homes and businesses. Law-abiding citizens must stand on their constitutional right to protection and safety and must remain vigilant at all times.
The FF Plus encourages communities to join neighbourhood watches and community policing forums and to use all the technology at their disposal to prevent attacks. The party also insists that the government must show that it is serious about combating crime. Merely paying lip service will not stop criminals and it cannot go on like this any longer.
The FF Plus expresses its deepest condolences to the victims' friends and family.
