The recommendation by the ministerial task team that history must be a compulsory school subject up to grade 12 is ill-considered and will serve simply as a means for the ANC to spread its propaganda among young learners.
The current history syllabus is a one-sided distortion of South Africa’s history that demonises white people.
Earlier today, the Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga, received the report and indicated that she approves of it. The report also states that the current history syllabus must be revised so as to make it more Africa-centred. Thus far, it has been too Eurocentric.
This method of spreading the ANC government’s rhetoric, ideology and propaganda among the youth is nothing but a bold step in the direction of a Marxist state that is reminiscent of Stalin.
The FF Plus will surely participate in compiling the new syllabus in order to ensure that South Africa’s history is presented in a balanced way.
The FF Plus is also calling on parents to deliberately instil in their children a true and balanced view of our country’s history from an early age. It is a great responsibility that cannot be left to the ANC.
