The Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities (CRL Commission) has accepted an invitation from the FF Plus to visit the Afrikaans Taal Monument and Museum.
The aim of the planned visit is to allow the Commission to assess the Afrikaans language, its indigenous development and history, and its significant role in South African society with greater insight.
All South Africans ought to be proud of how swiftly Afrikaans developed to become an internationally recognised academic language in its own right.
The FF Plus extended the invitation today during a meeting of the parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA).
The party emphasised that the visit should only serve as a starting point to promote the proper recognition of all indigenous South African languages.
It will, furthermore, allow the Commission to effectively fulfil its constitutional mandate, which will benefit everyone in the country.
Such recognition will cultivate greater insight and mutual respect among all language and cultural communities in the country.
The FF Plus will continue to promote and protect the cultural and language interests of all South Africans.
