The chances that the new ANC Premier in the North West, Bushy Maape, will be able to turn the chaotic provincial government around are very slim. Maape was appointed as Premier earlier today by means of an election in the provincial Legislature. The appointment follows after months of instability in the provincial government caused by ANC faction fights that resulted in the resignation of Dr Job Mokgoro, the former Premier.
The North West province has been plagued by mismanagement, corruption and faction fights in the ANC-controlled local government for many years. It has driven the province to the very edge of ruin.
The fact that Maape has no proven experience in governmental management is another cause for concern. And now the responsibility to pull the North West province out of the hole that the ANC dug for it rests on his shoulders.
The FF Plus is committed to holding the Premier and the ANC government in the province accountable as well as exposing corruption and mismanagement.
The current level of decline of government structures and service delivery in the province calls for professional leadership to save this once prosperous province from utter ruin.
In the upcoming local government elections, voters must stand up and stand with the FF Plus to ensure that strong and accountable government is restored on all levels in the North West.
