Eight retail and wholesale businesses in Kempton Park filed charges of intimidation with the police last Friday and Saturday after EFF members had threatened them.
Last week on social media, the FF Plus encouraged businesses and residents who receive threats from political parties in the runup to and on 20 March to lodge a complaint with their nearest police station.
After the incidents of intimidation came to light, the FF Plus provided the relevant businesses with affidavit forms in an attempt to help them lodge complaints.
Businessowners admitted to the party that they view the death threats as serious, but that they will not give in to the EFF's demands.
Their businesses were all open on 20 March. No incidents were reported on that day.
Such conduct proves that businessowners will not yield to preposterous demands and are serious about building the economy.
Intimidation is a serious offence and someone who is found guilty of it could be given a fine of up to R40 000 as well as a prison sentence of up to a maximum of ten years, or both.
