The latest Blue Drop Report announced by Senzo Mchunu, Minister of Water and Sanitation, once again highlights the seriousness of the threat that the lax and incompetent ANC government poses to the people of South Africa.
While government is apparently caught up in drafting and implementing all kinds of senseless, racially driven “transformation” policies, such as Affirmative Action, millions of South Africans are denied their basic constitutional right to have access to clean water.
The report indicates that nearly half (46%) of municipalities countrywide are unable to provide their residents with clean drinking water. It is a disgrace.
Likewise, the condition of 64% of the country’s sewage and water treatment plants is categorised as either high risk or critical. This results in, among other things, extensive sewage pollution in rivers and underground water sources.
It also poses a serious threat to many communities with diseases such as cholera becoming more prevalent.
In addition, poor management and a lack of maintenance to municipal water and sewage infrastructure are also highlighted in the report. Consequently, up to 47% of the available clean water is lost due to leakages while South Africa is known for being a water-scarce country.
The rate at which the lax ANC on all levels of government is destroying the country’s water resources and critical infrastructure literally means that the country is headed for a large-scale disaster.
The only way to avert this disaster is through ousting the ANC and electing an ethical, professional coalition government with the FF Plus as a governing partner.
