The ANC government’s contempt for the people of South Africa showed clearly this afternoon in the poor attendance of the debates on farm murders and the SASSA debacle, Adv. Anton Alberts, the FF Plus’ chairperson of the FF Plus, says.
Adv. Alberts says a sea of empty chairs greeted opposition parties in parliament during the debates which were of great importance to the country and its people. He said the ANC was clearly of the opinion that it was not important.
According to Adv. Alberts, parliament itself also showed its contempt by organising committee meetings to take place at the same time as the two scheduled debates.
“To make matters worse, the parliamentary committees on Finance and Trade and Industry held a joint meeting while the debates were taking place, to consider how banks could be transformed further and their assets stripped to advantage only a few ANC cadres.
“It is simply disrespectful to organize such a committee meeting while serious debates are being held about the lack of respect that people show by perpetrating the most heinous attacks and murders on farms and gambling with people’s survival with the poor management of the payment of SASSA grants.
“We can only conclude from this that the ANC is scared of the opposition and is not prepared to discuss these issues of national importance. The ANC has reason to be afraid, because it does not have answers for its poor management of the country. It will pay the price for this in the general elections in 2019,” Adv. Alberts says.
