The FF Plus wants to reiterate its objection to the government's co-called ‘Solidarity Fund’ after a video was posted on social media showing employees of the government's Expanded Public Works Programme unloading food parcels from a truck at a residence that reportedly belongs to Vusi Mkhatswa, Deputy Speaker of Mpumalanga's Provincial Legislature.
It was widely reported in the media as well. The FF Plus has already received various reports of irregularities regarding food parcels that are supposed to be distributed among those in need.
It is unacceptable that the ANC is exploiting the situation to create the impression among the people that it is the only party that offers relief to people in distress. The FF Plus refuses to contribute to a fund that offers aid based on racial grounds.
The FF Plus strongly condemns the ANC's misuse of government aid and resources to further their own agenda and demands that the ANC Member of the Provincial Legislature at whose house the food parcels were unloaded must be suspended immediately and that disciplinary steps must be taken against him.
