The ongoing ANC/EFF faction fights in the Ditsobotla Local Municipality are threatening to once again plunge the already embattled towns of Lichtenburg and Coligny into utter chaos.
As if history is repeating itself, the recently dismissed Municipal Manager, Olaotse Bojosinyane, is refusing to accept his dismissal. Although the Labour Court found in his favour and ordered that he be reinstated, the Municipality appealed against the finding. Today during an urgent council meeting, the municipal council upheld its earlier decision to dismiss him and to proceed with the appeal.
Meanwhile, it has come to light that Bojosinyane and some of his political cohorts, his private security guards and supporters turned up at the Municipality demanding that he remain in office. When he was denied access, the street crossing at the Municipality was blocked off while bottles were thrown at the building and shots fired. Two people were injured, one of which had to be hospitalised due to a serious chest wound.
Another development that also came to light is that he then travelled to Mahikeng and met with some ANC and EFF councillors from Ditsobotla where one Molefe Morutse was “elected” as the new mayor in the place of the lawfully elected Mazwi Moruri.
This blatant lawlessness has been plaguing Ditsobotla communities for decades and taints all government spheres in South Africa. The fact that no decisive action has been taken against these thugs in Lichtenburg and surrounds makes a mockery of law enforcement in South Africa.
The Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) in the North West has repeatedly called for decisive steps to be taken by the provincial as well as national government, but to no avail.
The Freedom Front Plus will address an urgent letter to the Premier, Lazarus Mokgotsi, once again demanding that he take the lead and put a stop to the lawlessness and endemic corruption in Ditsobotla.
The Freedom Front Plus will also engage with the provincial leadership of the ANC and EFF to point out to them that their representatives’ conduct in Ditsobotla is jeopardising the entire community’s future and undermining their wellbeing.
