The FF Plus welcomes the decision by the Tshwane Mayoral Committee to set new standards for contractors doing refuse removal.
The decision follows numerous complaints from residents about contractors’ vehicles damaging their refuse bins.
The FF Plus believes the decision will ensure that residents of Pretoria and surrounds will get better value for their tax money.
These are the new standards:
• Every vehicle must be fitted with a tracking device.
• Every vehicle must be roadworthy and in a good condition.
• The contractor must have all the relevant eNaTIS documents in order.
New contractors will be appointed in due time and growing pains are probably to be expected. The FF
Plus asks that residents remain patient during the process.
The FF Plus has also noted that previous contractors have attempted to intimidate current and new contractors. Such conduct is strongly condemned. Contractors ought to put residents’ interests first.
