The Mogale City Local Municipality should immediately repair the sewage pump next to the Pinehaven Estate in Muldersdrift to stop the sewage spill.
For the past week, sewage has been spilling into a cement gully that flows down to surrounding farm dams which flow into rivers that finally end up in the Hartbeespoort Dam.
The party has repeatedly contacted the Department of Water and Sanitation to repair the problem, but its requests have fallen on deaf ears.
The FF Plus also demanded that the problem be resolved at once in an urgent letter to Mogale City’s Municipal Manager, Mzezana Makhosana.
Residents of Pinehaven Estate who live near the sewage spill complain of the unbearable stench.
In May last year, the FF Plus asked the Green Scorpions to investigate an ongoing sewage spill at Pinehaven.
At that stage, sewage had been flowing through yards, over lawns and down the Estate’s streets.
The Municipality quickly repaired the sewage pump after the investigation.
Meanwhile, the problem has resurfaced and the party will not hesitate to call on the Green Scorpions again.
