The FF Plus supports the decision by the Tshwane Metro’s City Manager, Johan Mettler, to implement cost-saving measures for catering expenses.
It is in line with the prescripts of the National Treasury (NT).
According to a report by the Tshwane Metro Council’s Public Accounts Committee, an amount of R119, 270 from the outsourced catering budget for the 2021/22 financial year was allocated to Nendou Trading without adequate supervision.
The report highlights the lack of transparency in tender processes as invoices and quotations for expenses were not provided, as required by standard protocol.
The FF Plus supports the recommendation that the relevant receipts and invoices should be checked and tabled to the Public Accounts Committee.
It is essential to ensure that public funds are used responsibly and with transparency, especially in light of the economic challenges faced by the Metro.
The FF Plus demands transparency, accountability and responsible financial management in the Tshwane Metro.
The party will keep monitoring the situation closely and demand accountability for the misuse of public funds.
