The FF Plus welcomes the decision of the Tshwane Metro's city manager, Mr Johan Mettler, to dismiss the Cope Mayor, Dr Muranwa Makwarela.
The decision follows the disclosure of Makwarela's financial status.
According to information provided to Mettler, Makwarela is an unrehabilitated insolvent who does not qualify to fill a public office in terms of the Constitution.
It is clear that Cope and Makwarela deliberately withheld certain information before he became a member of the multiparty coalition in the Tshwane Metro and was elected as Speaker.
It is the duty of the political party represented by an office bearer to ensure that there are no legal reasons why that person cannot serve as a public officer bearer.
The FF Plus will continue to zealously serve the Metro to benefit all its people.
It is important to bring stability to the Metro Council by appointing a competent mayor, speaker and mayoral committee.
This needs to happen as soon as possible, before the Gauteng Premier, Panyaza Lesufi, once again places the Metro under administration by some incompetent ANC delegate.
