FF Plus demonstrates its commitment to promoting language and minority rights by recognising all official languages during Manifesto launch

The FF Plus is truly serious about promoting the languages of all the people of South Africa and, therefore, the party recognised all twelve official languages, which include sign language, with its Manifesto launch today.

The Manifesto is even available in Braille, which means that every person in South Africa can hear, read and understand the party’s message in their mother tongue.

A professional translation service translated the Manifesto to Siswati, Setswana, Sepedi, Sesotho, Ndebele, Venda, Xhosa, Xitsonga and Zulu.

The FF Plus believes it is important to acknowledge the fact that South Africa is a country made up of minorities which also includes the deaf, hard of hearing and visually impaired communities.

The fact that just over 21% of the country’s people speak the most widely spoken language, Zulu, and 17% speak Xhosa points to the number of minorities. Afrikaans- and English-speakers make up almost 25% of the population.

Talking about the importance of empowering communities of people with disabilities is easy, but individuals with disabilities will tell you that it is not always the case in practice.

The FF Plus, however, wanted to give effect to this both in word and deed to promote social inclusivity and equality.
