The FF Plus has asked the Public Protector (PP) to investigate the Mangaung Metro’s misappropriation of R8,1 million for supposed information technology services, seeing as there exists no evidence that the services were in fact rendered.
The AG voiced his concern about the payment in his report on Mangaung’s audit outcomes for the 2022/2023 financial year.
The FF Plus hopes that an investigation into the R8,1 million payment will explain why taxpayers’ money is squandered on contracts with service providers that fail to render the services.
In the same year, the Metro’s wasteful expenditure amounted to more than R189 million.
The ANC has demonstrated time and again that it lacks the political will to allocate, and subsequently monitor, service delivery contracts to reliable contractors.
All the ANC cares about is enriching its cohorts and cadres, at the expense of Mangaung residents.
The only way to restore and rebuild Mangaung and the Free State is to get rid of the ANC and replace it with a coalition government of which the FF Plus is part.
